Curriculum Writer (Grandview Campus)
The Curriculum Writer develops biblically faithful, practical, and engaging resources that equip people to grow in their faith. This role focuses on creating sermon-aligned small group curriculum, developing and refreshing ongoing discipleship pathways (such as Freedom and Growth Track), and producing resources for new believers.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Biblical Studies, Theology, Christian Education,
Creative Writing or related field preferred). - Master’s degree preferred (M.Div., M.A. Theology, Christian Education, or
similar). - Proven experience in curriculum writing or discipleship resource development
(writing samples required). - Strong theological foundation with the ability to communicate clearly for diverse
audiences. - Excellent writing and editing skills; highly organized and deadline driven.
- Collaborative and teachable; thrives in a support role under theological
leadership. - Familiarity with Church of the Highlands’ mission, values, and discipleship
strategy.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conceive, outline, and write new multi-week studies (leader guides, participant
guides, facilitator notes, devotionals, practice exercises). - Translate theological direction into structured sessions that include Scripture
engagement, application, and reflection. - Refresh and update content (illustrations, examples, application points) to keep
studies current and relevant. - Write weekly discussion guides tied to the teaching calendar.
- Draft questions, leader notes, and practical applications that connect sermons to
group life. - Collaborate with the Creative Team to finalize design and ensure alignment with
church branding. - Develop simple, encouraging resources for those beginning their faith journey
(e.g., next steps booklets, devotionals, discipleship tools). - Manage timelines for weekly, seasonal, and long-term curriculum projects.
